European Social Work Conference 25 – 26 April 2024

Social Work Matters. On 25 and 26 April, the European Social Work Conference invites social workers, academics, and policy makers from around Europe for a unique opportunity to exchange knowledge and experience. There is so much to learn from each other and so much we can do even better when we work together.

Across Europe, social workers are confronted by societal challenges like climate change, migration, and digitalisation. Social work is essential in making sure no-one is left behind in these challenges. The European Social Work Conference wants to shed light on these challenges and the ways in which social work makes a difference.

This conference was created with the help of many social work organisations and networks from all over Europe and with the support of the Flemish Minister of Welfare, Public Health and Family and the Flemish Minister responsible for Poverty Reduction. The selection of these challenges and the specific sessions of this conference was a participatory process. The most pressing challenges and most inspiring practices were selected.

Central to the conference are inspiring social work practices and interesting research from all over Europe. We want to bring together European social workers, academics, and policymakers to share knowledge and create connections.

The European Social Work Conference is hosted by the The Department of Care of the Government of Flanders and the Flemish Platform Strong Social Work. The Conference is part of the Belgian Presidency of the European Union.
